This is us

She was making some camomile tea with her book in her hand wearing an oversized hoodie and shorts with her hair in a bun when she tweeted: ‘when you have no boyfriend so you go to the men’s section and buy yourself oversized stuff #storyofmylife’ and that was when her life took an unexpected turn.

A few weeks later a guy replied: ‘can i give you some of my hoodies?’ She was confused, who is that guy and what did she tweet today. She opened her phone and realized it was her tweets from 2 weeks ago. She debated wether she should reply or not. This was not her kind of thing. But she just had a jurrasic change in her life and she though ‘this is a one time thing so why not?’ She tweeted him ‘sure! you can send it to me anytime’ that started a conversation that was continuous and non stop for two weeks. They shared their interests, watched a movie together. And even got to know each other on a deep level. They formed a connection. It was her secret account so no one actually knew her. He didn’t even know her name for a couple of months.

They called each other by their handles and with time that developed into inside jokes kind of nicknames. She told him that she cannot do this she is not that kind of person and stopped talking to him. As the days passed, she felt as if her days were missing something. So she tweeted him. That led them to take a more private route so they started dm’ing. He told her his name but she still didnt feel right. He was now 18 and she was 16. It was his birthday and they had their first fight. She wanted to spend his birthday with him ‘as friends’ and he would rather go out because his friends got him a cake and he wanted to savor every last moment with them before graduation. She debated on wether she should wish him a happy birthday or not. She did. Not too cheesy not too formal she just sent a boring normal ‘happy birthday may your wishes come true’. And that was when they realized no stupid fight can distance them. She started opening up to him telling him her name and all about her family and friends. To her he was her ‘twin’ and to him she was the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
